“We exist to meet people’s physical needs so that they are open to the spiritual needs,” said the Rev. Daniel Bogre, explaining the purpose of the Twice Blessed Free Store.
A ministry of Rocky River United Methodist Church (North Coast District), the free store offers shoppers clothing and household items every Saturday from 10am-1pm. A worship service, with communion served once a month, is offered every Saturday at 9:30am before the store opens. On August 27 the first baptisms took place at the free store, with more than 20 people being baptized for the first time or reaffirming their baptism.
Opened at the corner of W. 65 and Bridge Avenue in Cleveland in January 2015, the free store serves 350-400 people every Saturday.
