Bishop Malone Calls For Prayer

Following the April 28 ruling of the Judicial Council, Bishop Tracy S. Malone calls “upon all East Ohio clergy and churches to pray unceasingly as we, The United Methodist Church, commit ourselves to faithfully live out our mission, unity and connection while we continue to struggle together with the seemingly un-crossable impasse related to human sexuality.  I remind us that, ‘we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.’

“Let us stay encouraged and stay focused on the mission of Christ and his Church.  Let us remember to keep the main thing the main thing.  We are to: make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world; love the Lord with all our heart, our soul, our mind and our strength and love our neighbors as ourselves; and act justly, love mercy and walk humbly with God.”

Disciples Evangelize to Produce More Disciples

“The work of evangelism is deeply rooted in discipleship.  We, who are disciples, we evangelize in order to make and to mature disciples.”

Bishop Tracy S. Malone shared this Evangelism/Discipleship message during her keynote address at the Tuscarawas District Spring Conference.

“Disciples make disciples. It’s simple, it’s basic, it’s elementary, it’s fundamental, it’s formational,” she told those gathered at Union Ave UMC in Alliance. “To be a disciple of Jesus Christ is to know the love and the calling of God, and to assume the responsibility to evangelizing, telling others that they are deeply loved and forgive by God.”

Message in the Movies

Movie review by Rev. Bruce Batchelor-Glader
Photo by Amazon Studios/Bleeker Street Media

The Lost City of Z “What motivates a person to risk their life and embark on trips that will keep them away from family for years at a time? Initially, it is for his honor as a British officer (his father’s Army career was marked with shame). But after Fawcett proves his masculinity, why return? Is there something about the unknown that seduces a person with the combination of beauty and danger?”
