Each annual conference in the North Central Jurisdiction was represented at the jurisdiction’s United Methodist Volunteers in Mission (UMVIM) RoundUP held at Camp Asbury in Hiram August 4-7.
“We can’t have a relationship with God and not have a relationship with each other,” the Rev. Pat Watkins, a missionary with the General Board of Global Ministries (GBGM), told those gathered at his workshop. “That’s why you are all here, because you have a relationship with God you feel a need to go and be in relationships with other people through mission work.”
RoundUP participants worshipped and fellowshipped together, attended workshops, networked, and met the UMVIM coordinators from each of the other four United Methodist jurisdictions.
Tammy Kuntz, a provisional deacon from the East Ohio Conference, was introduced during the opening session as the new UMVIM coordinator in the North Central Jurisdiction effective January 1, 2017. She will succeed Lorna Jost, who is retiring after 13 years in the position.
