Rev. Dr. Steve Bailey, superintendent of the North Coast District, will give the invocation Thursday night at the Republican National Convention (RNC). In making the announcement Wednesday on his Facebook page, Bailey wrote, “I have agreed to do this because I believe a pastor should take every opportunity to bear witness to our faith and represent Christ in positive and relevant ways. This is by no means an endorsement or a repudiation of Donald Trump or the Republican Party. I have my own private views but this is a prayer – not a political statement. So, if you have time to offer a prayer on Thursday for me – I would appreciate it. And I ask you to understand what I am doing and why.”
Per the RNC schedule, the invocation is scheduled for 7:30pm Thursday. A copy of the invocation will be available on the conference website on Friday.
