Sept. 16, 2013 – Garfield Memorial Church launched a second site at South Euclid Hillcrest UMC on Sunday, Sept. 15. Rev. Chip Freed invited the more than 200 gathered in worship to “take the adventure.”
For many the adventure had already begun. Countless hours have been spent by those at each church, and by individuals at district and conference offices preparing for the launch. A group gathered at South Euclid Hillcrest on Saturday to pray and then pass out flyers promoting the new service to homes in the city and in surrounding communities.
Sunday marked a first-time event in the life of Garfield Memorial South Euclid Hillcrest Church. During the 11:15a Mosaic Service, Freed led the worship at Garfield Memorial Church in Pepper Pike, while Pastor Nate Burkey did the same in South Euclid. As Freed preached the sermon in Pepper Pike it was simulcast to the congregation in South Euclid. One church in two locations.
