Rev. Gary Jones, director of Camps & Retreat Ministries, announces that Eric Dingler will conclude his ministry as the director of Camp Aldersgate effective October 31, 2014.
“Eric has provided effective leadership at Camp Aldersgate for over 15 years and been an integral part of the overall conference camping program,” Jones said. “His creative spirit and passion for ministry will be missed.”
“While I have been blessed beyond measure to serve in full-time ministry at Aldersgate since 2000 as the camp director and for three previous summers on summer staff, my tenure has come to an end,” Dingler said. “I, along with my wife Marissa, have made the difficult decision to leave full-time onsite camp ministry at this time. While we see great value in raising our kids on a summer camp, there are also many hidden challenges. Mainly, with the time demands on the camp director for a camp the size of Aldersgate, I simply can’t be a great dad and a great camp director at the same time.”
Dingler further added, “At this time, we are interviewing for full-time employment in a local church. While I’m eager to put my natural and spiritual gifts at work in a new adventure and chapter of my life, I’ll always be fond of the amazing ministry that happens here at Aldersgate. I’m confident the next place will soon tire of hearing, “one time, at church camp…
“Marissa, Rilee, Ryan and I would benefit from your prayers during this time of transition,” Dingler said. “Please continue with us in prayerful support of this amazing and beautiful place, Camp Aldersgate.”
Kimberley Fair, the camp’s current assistant director, will step into the position as interim camp director for the next 12 months. She has served at Camp Aldersgate for several years and will provide valuable leadership during this time of transition. The next 12 months will be a time of reviewing the ministry at Aldersgate and making decisions about what is needed in the next camp director for the site.
